For students on both sides of the ocean want to get to know each other, the Internet, that "Wonder of the Modern World," makes cross-cultural, transoceanic communication an easily achieved reality.
Through the Commission's AMICIZIA program, young people in grades 6-12 have an opportunity to correspond with their counterparts in Italy in either or both Italian and English, as preferred.
AMICIZIA was initiated as a component of the Universality of Italian Heritage Curriculum. While learning about the worldwide legacy of Italy, teachers and students can further enrich their learning experience by corresponding in traditional and creative ways with their foreign peers.
The program is applicable for all students who are interested in learning about Italy. It is also singularly effective in learning a second language.
Student exchanges, visits abroad, summer school programs, and scholarships, are being explored here and by participating schools in Italy. To date, direct communication with Italian pen pals has produced rewarding results for all participants. The Commission cordially invites you to join the AMICIZIA partnership.
To join AMICIZIA, please complete the Registration and Evaluation Forms and refer to AMICIZIA, Step-by-Step Guide. All these documents are available for download to registered users by clicking on the link below.
